Mr. Donis Smead currently serves as a the pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Malvern. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of nineteen and accepted the call to ministry during revival services at Macedonia Baptist Church in Magnolia.
Mr. Smead holds a Bachelor’s degree from Southern Arkansas University and Master’s degrees from Arkansas State University and Central Arkansas Baptist Bible Institute. He is also a graduate of the Arkansas Leadership Academy and was named the Hot Spring County Pastor of the Year in 2017.
Donis has had the privilege of pastoring several churches including New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Kingsland, First Baptist Church in Rosston, and Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Bonnerdale.
He began his career in education in 1989 as a math teacher in the El Dorado School District. In 1991 he accepted a job as a math teacher in the Bearden School District, and in 1994 he accepted the position as principal of Glenwood High School. He helped guide the consolidation efforts between the Glenwood and Amity school districts and then served as the first principal of Centerpoint High School until 2005. After leaving Centerpoint, Mr. Smead served as the superintendent of the Mountain Pine School District and then as principal of Sheridan High School.
